Agility is one of the many character traits that first comes to mind when you get to know Cliff. Whether he is leading from the head of the board room table, talking with union leaders, or navigating a triathlon course, he has the rare ability to quickly understand and adjust to the dynamics of any setting in business or the community. It’s no surprise that clients rely on Cliff for counsel on a wide range of issues, both inside and outside their business.
Cliff joined SIR after serving as CEO and president of Philip Morris USA, a role at the pinnacle of twenty-plus years in managerial and executive corporate roles. Ask any of his former associates, from the plant floor to the executive suite, and they will tell you he is a genuine person and leader.
He also gives generously to the community, serving on countless non-profit, educational and governmental advisory boards, including his role as the incoming chair of ChamberRVA. He has a hard time saying no for requests for help from the largest issues to the smallest tasks.
Cliff earned four academic degrees from William & Mary, including a JD and MBA, a distinction shared with only 14 other alums since the college was established in 1693.
