COVID-19: Staying Connected and Productive in Uncertain Times
It’s been more than a month since we began collaborating with and serving our clients remotely, and we’ve learned a lot about how to get the most out of virtual meetings and workshops. We’d like to share three of those best practices with you:
Add some interactive tools.
We’ve experienced extraordinary group engagement and participation during virtual meetings facilitated by our advisors. Through real-time polling, post-meeting feedback questions, and interactive tasks where participants can mark-up images or documents on a shared screen, we’ve found virtual meetings to be just as effective (and in some cases even more effective) than the “real thing.”
Embrace virtual breakout sessions.
Breaking a large virtual conference group into small breakout sessions works wonders when you’re trying to tackle layered topics, or when you simply want to get people generating ideas independently from the full group. And, since our moderators can jump from group to group, we can immediately take the pulse of the conversation in real time.
Take a moment to share.
The unfortunate reality of our current climate is that we’re all yearning for connection beyond our homes or secluded offices in some way or another. Hearing each other’s voices and seeing familiar, or even unfamiliar, faces helps us stay connected, and we’ve found that building in some time at the outset to talk about our experiences has helped participants enthusiastically embrace the simple pleasure of working together on something meaningful.
We consider it a great privilege to be able to share our thoughts with you and to continue working with so many of you. Again, we’d love to learn from you and hear about the efforts you’re making to overcome these trying times.
